RED LEAVES ON BRASSICA PIC

Here we go -this is the strange happening with my brassicas....it does look pretty but it really shouldn't be happening !!!!
Its strange as i only gave them some fish blood + bone food a few days ago -and Im sure the other plants are starting to lose the red tinge -although it could be my imagination lol -so now I have a picture I will be able to compare and see if lack of phosporus was the problem ..

Mrs M.,

I found something on an organic gardening site www.organicgardeningpractices.com
that shows symptoms of Nitrogen deficiency. It says, 'Plants grow poorly, leaves turn pale green and in some cases, such as brassicas with yellow, red, or purplish tints. Lower leaves show symptoms first. Flowering or fruiting may be reduced or delayed'.

Your brassica leaves seem to fit this description. They certainly look red and are more red at the bottom of the stalk. As you've just given them some general fertiliser (blood, fish & bone is, as an average, NPK 6:6:6) it may well be that the nitrogen is no longer so deficient and that is why you are noticing some plants losing the red tinge and going back towards the green end of the spectrum.HTH.
Best wishes, Stevie T.

thanks for that stevie

I looked it up on google -and after going round in circles I got it down to Phosphorus defficiency or something similar... it's nice to know someone else came up with something similar...
Hopefully with it being brassicas and catching them pretty early they will have plenty of time to recover -fingers crossed
thanks again...
